As an organization, Ninjas in Pyjamas has quite the history. They were founded in 2000, dissolved, and then were recreated in 2012. This iteration of the organization initially expanded into Dota 2 in 2015. When that line-up failed to achieve the desired level of success, NiP dropped Dota 2 from their portfolio. In 2017, the organization returned by picking up the Escape Gaming roster. Then, again, they released the full team and departed Dota 2.
NiP returned to Dota 2 again in 2018, picking up a roster helmed by the legendary captain, Peter "ppd" Dager. Though ppd has since retired, NiP has remained active in the scene. Their current roster formerly competed under the name Chicken Fighters.
