BTS Pro Series Season 7: Americas gets underway

By Jack VioletAugust 3, 2021
Though The International 10 is not for a couple months, there is still plenty of Dota to watch until then! Beyond the Summit is back with BTS Pro Series Season 7: Americas. Some of North and South America’s best will fight over a $50,000 prize pool. Several teams who have qualified for TI will be participating, so the event will allow us to see how they will hold up against their competition.

Event Format

The event will begin with the closed qualifiers starting on August 4 and will run until August 22. Four teams received direct invites, while eight teams will fight for the remaining four spots in the closed qualifiers. The closed qualifiers feature two groups of four teams with two qualifying from each group. The main event features an eight-team round robin. The top four teams will advance to the upper bracket, with the bottom four moving to the lower bracket.
The invites for the event are as follows:

Direct Invites

  • beastcoast
  • Undying
  • SG e-sports
  • 4 Zoomers

Closed Qualifier Group One

  • Hokori
  • Arkosh Gaming
  • NoPing e-sports

Closed Qualifier Group Two

  • Team Unknown
  • Fúria Jovem
  • Infamous
  • simply TOOBASED
The direct invites seem to be a level above most of the closed qualifier teams. Undying had a flawless performance in the TI qualifiers and did not drop a single game. beastcoast directly qualified to the AniMajor but had a rather poor showing in the group stage, so they will need a strong performance to show everyone why they’ll be at TI. SG e-sports freshly qualified for TI and was stopped by beastcoast from qualifying to both Majors this year, so they’ll be looking to take revenge on them. 4 Zoomers is playing with a new roster, which is made up of Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao and Nico "Gunnar" Lopez, as well as some other NA stars. This team could either make it far or completely implode.
Group one is a bit of a toss up. NoPing and Hokori have both been performing solidly in South America and have proved to be very competitive. Arkosh is always a wildcard and without Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling the team has certainly lost their most valuable asset. Aui_2000 has been replaced by another unknown entity, this time going by the name Cerberus. TEAM TEAM is made up of several NA stars including some of the 4 Zoomers squad and Michael "ixmike88" Ghannam who has been absent from competition. This squad seems to be the weakest of the group but does have the potential to make it out of the group.
Group two could be a bit more predictable. Infamous and TOOBASED seem to be the strongest two of this group as these teams feature some much more experienced players that have mostly been together throughout the DPC season. You may have been impressed by Team Unknown’s performance in the TI qualifiers but since then the organization has acquired an entirely new roster made up of some players from the team Latam Defenders, who were very weak. Fúria Jovem stars some Brazilian players such as Heitor "Duster" Pereira who found themselves without a team for quite some time. It’s unlikely they make it out of this group but anything can happen!
Tune into the first match of the closed qualifiers between Hokori and TEAM TEAM on August 4.
