Natus Vincere pulls out of Singapore Major

By Jack VioletMarch 25, 2021
With just a few days before they were set to perform in the Singapore Major, Natus Vincere announced that they will not be participating in the tournament.
On March 20, Na’Vi had revealed that both Bogdan "Iceberg" Vasilenko and Andrii "ALWAYSWANNAFLY" Bondarenko had tested positive for COVID-19 and the team would play with stand-ins. However, just a few days before their flight to Singapore, coach Andrey "Mag" Chipenko tested positive as well. Mag was set to fill in for ALWAYSWANNAFLY and had been in direct contact with the other team members. Because they are set to play in a few days and very few stand-ins available, Na’Vi made the tough decision to pull out of the Major.
Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev, who was to stand in for Iceberg, is already traveling to Singapore and is unaware of the organization's decision to withdraw. He will be eligible to play for any team that requires a stand-in.
Na’Vi had finished second in the CIS DPC Upper Division and earned a spot in the Group Stage. This is the first international tournament in quite some time and Na’Vi will miss out on some vital DPC points and a large prize pool.
Na’Vi is not the only team to pull out of the tournament. beastcoast announced hours before that one of their players tested positive for COVID-19 and the other team members have been exposed. T1, Neon Esports, Team Nigma, and Quincy Crew are also set to play stand-ins.
With the Wild Card beginning on March 27, we may see more stand-ins or withdrawals be announced. Stay up to date with the matches using our event hub.
