By Chelsea JackFebruary 8, 2021
Epic Esports Events has announced Season 3 of EPIC League.
As per the announcement and a press release, the tournament will run from March 2-21, with sixteen teams from the CIS and Europe invited.
This third installment of the EPIC League tournament series will involve a Swiss-style group stage playing out from March 2-13. The top eight teams will advance to the first division playoffs, running from March 14-21. They will compete for $85,000.
The bottom eight teams will advance to the second division playoffs from March 15-21, competing for $15,000.
All playoff matches will be best-of-threes except for the first division grand finals, which will be a best-of-five.
This tournament will cover the period between the end of most regions of the DPC and the start of the Major. China is the only exception, as that region will end on March 14 due to a planned break for the Chinese New Year.
No teams have been announced yet. With the Singapore Major beginning on March 27, the top teams from each region will likely be traveling when EPIC League is winding down. This means we may see mid-tier teams from each region competing, teams in the Upper Division who didn't make the cut for the Major and those at the top of the Lower Division, perhaps?
