After losing some important series last week
, Team Spirit’s manager Dmitry “Korb3”' Belov stated that internal issues began to arise, thus requiring roster changes to be made. The DPC rules
state: “Teams can drop players from the end of the league up until the Tuesday after the Major at 12PM PST, receiving a 15% penalty to their points up to that point.”
so bad was replaced by Ukrainian player Miroslav 'Miroslaw' Kolpakov
. Miroslaw has recently played for the organization Cascade, who unfortunately did not qualify for the CIS Lower Divison. He excels on roaming heroes that use Blink Daggers, with Rubick his most played hero. Not being a very greedy player, Miroslaw roams to other lanes in order to boost his cores rather than taking farm for himself.
While it was an incredibly risky choice, especially ahead of quite possibly their most vital match of the season, the decision proved to be a success. Team Spirit was able to take the series 2:1 over Live to Win. After a rocky game one with a questionable draft, they bounced back in games two and three, taking dominant victories in games two and three. Miroslaw appeared to gel nicely with the team and had standout performances on Rubick and Shadow Demon.
This series could have sealed Team Spirit’s fate in the CIS Upper Division. With two of the slots most certainly going to Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere, Team Spirit and Live to Win were serious contenders for the third Major slot. Because of their losses last week, losing here would drop them out of the running. But with a win, the competition for this last spot has become much more intense. Hopefully, Miroslaw continues to help Team Spirit secure more victories.
