Thunder Predator, beastcoast in South America's DPC Upper Division

One Game Agency (OGA) will operate the South American branch of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit. Today, January 2, they released full information about invited teams and important dates.
Sixteen teams will compete in two separate divisions (Upper and Lower). Directly invited to the Upper Division are:
SG eSports, of course, recently picked up the Team Brasil roster. The squad had won Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Season 6, and then most recently placed fifth-sixth at BTS Pro Series Season 4: Americas. Beastcoast have long been considered the top team in South America, but their performance dipped off during the COVID-19 season. Expectations will be high for them to re-assert themselves as the top team in SA.
Meanwhile, Thunder Predator just brought on Frank Arias in the offlane and Joel Mori "MoOz" Ozambela in the soft support. The team's been up and down through the COVID period. They most recently experience success, winning BTS Pro Series 4: Americas over 4 Zoomers. This underlined how strong the South American region has become, especially compared to North America at this time.
Infamous has also swapped a player, bringing in a new mid in Jean "Mr.Jeans" Natividad. They were solidly top four through 2020 and will be looking for a breakthrough in the next couple months.
As for the qualifiers, the Open Qualifiers will get underway on January 6. The top four teams from those Qualifiers will head to the Lower Division.
Competing in the Closed Qualifier are eight teams, the top four of which will head to the Upper Division and the bottom four to the Lower Division. The Closed Qualifier will run from January 6-9. There will be a best-of-one round robin group stage, with the top two teams advancing directly to the Upper Division, with the bottom two headed to the Lower Division. The remaining four teams will play in a double-elimination playoff to establish the final spots.
The eight teams invited to the Closed Qualifier are:
  • Omega Gaming
  • Team Unknown
  • Team Hokori
  • Team Incubus
  • Crew Mates
  • EGOBoys
  • Infinity Esports
  • LATAM Defenders
Rest assured that TrackDota will have complete coverage of all the 2021 DPC South American action. We're looking forward to seeing things get underway on January 6.
