By Chelsea JackJanuary 1, 2021
PGL announced on January 1, 2021, which teams have been invited directly to the Southeast Asia Upper Division of the Dota Pro Circuit. They have also announced eight direct invites to the closed qualifiers, with four additional Open Qualifiers to finish seeding the eight teams in the Upper Division and eight in the Lower Division.
Directly invited to the Upper Division are:
Of these four teams, only Fnatic has a finalized roster thus far. T1 just dropped Samson "Sam_H" Hidalgo and Wilson "Poloson" Koh Chin Wei on December 31, with no indicators yet of who will replace the two players. BOOM and TNC both are down a player, with the former looking for a new carry and the latter a hard support. We can expect finalized team announcements by January 4 as Valve's deadline for roster locks was the beginning of qualifiers for the specific region.
Competing in the closed qualifiers are:
  • 496 Gaming
  • former IO Dota 2
  • Execration
  • Omega Esports
  • Vice Esports
  • Galaxy Racer
  • Cignal Ultra
  • Neon Esports
Four of these teams will advance to the Upper Division, while the other four will face eight open qualifier teams. Those twelve teams will be divided into two groups of six teams each. The two groups will compete best-of-two round robins, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the Lower Division of the DPC.'
The closed qualifier is scheduled to get underway January 4-7. We'll follow all the action here on TrackDota to see which teams advance to the Upper Division.
