are the champions of OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe & CIS. The grand final began the very day after The Mistwood Update dropped; giving the finalists, OG
and Na'Vi barely any time to read the patch notes
— never mind watching Purge’s patch analysis video. Na’Vi were particularly on the backfoot as they had to play the lower bracket final against Nigma
today as well. Even so, whether they were the better team or got a better grasp of the patch, Na’Vi were the better team by far today and wiped out OG in a convincing 3:0.
Good times for the CIS region
With Na’Vi as our latest champions and Virtus.pro
as the recent champions of EPIC League
, things are looking up for the CIS region. Especially when you consider most of the regions most accomplished players are currently teamless (i.e. ex-Just Error), there’s clearly a boom in talent emerging from the scene, with newcomers like the VP roster finding great success as well as more established names like Na’Vi’s Andrey “ALWAYSWANNAFLY” Bondarenko finding their time in the spotlight.
OG come close once again
Na’Vi are not the only ones stepping up their performance as of late. OG have had some very mixed results lately, often falling toward the bottom of the pack — far lower results than you’d expect of a team with OG’s legacy. However, between their two second-place finishes at Dota PIT Season 4 and EPIC League, things are looking up. Now that they have a consistent roster and aren’t inhibited by high ping from playing across regions, it looks like OG are ready to gain some momentum. And if we consider that the DPC and, eventually, The International are on the horizon, OG will be gearing up to defend a title only they have ever held (back-to-back TI winners!).
