Why should I care?
Dota PIT is putting $150,000 on the line for eight teams over four days. This is one of two simultaneous Europe / CIS events that are wrapping up 2020 for the region. The other is BTS Pro Series 4: Europe & CIS.
OGA Dota PIT will feature more money and higher profile teams, including both Virtus.pro and OG, who were in the grand finals of the recent EPIC League (recent as in...yesterday, December 13).
Eight teams will compete in Dota PIT S4: EU/CIS.
What about Just Error, you may be asking. Yes, when the tournament was first announced, Just Error was invited. However, after a disappointing result at EPIC League, which saw the team drop down into the lower division, the team is apparently disbanding.
With regards to OGA Dota PIT, Virtus.pro is the obvious favorite after having just won EPIC LEague. However, they are scheduled to face OG in their first series of the event, the same team they went 3:2 against, in the grand final of EPIC League. Will they maintain their momentum or face a lower bracket run?
Vikin.gg have also had some shining moments lately, finishing in third-place at EPIC League. We think this squad has serious potential.
A strong performance in their last events of the year could make the case for this team to be placed in the upper division of the packed-European region's Dota Pro Circuit.
Format & Schedule
All of the teams have been seeded into the upper bracket of a double-elimination playoff bracket. All series will be best-of-three until the grand final, which will be a best-of-five. The tournament is going to unfold quickly, with only four days of action. Bypassing the group stage puts us squarely in the part of the event with the most obvious impact.
Everything gets underway on December 15, with the finals on the 18th.
How do I watch OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS?
