Just a day after securing an upper bracket finish at CDA-FDC Pro Championship S2,
Vici Gaming have earned the top slot for Pro Cup. Their 13-4 games record includes a win over lower bracket qualifier
PSG.LGD and 2-0s over
Royal Never Give Up and
EHOME. Vici’s only loss came at the hands of Team Aster. The tier 2 staple is making waves at both CD2 Pro Cup and CDA-FDC. The upper bracket will also include EHOME themselves, who landed a nice upset over superteam
Elephant. fy’s stack rounds out the four spots on the winner's side.
The first match will be between Vici Gaming and EHOME, heavily favored towards the former.
Song “Sccc” Chun’s new team is still finding its footing. A big upset could lead to a podium finish. Team Aster against Elephant will also be one to watch. Elephant was the only team to beat Aster in the group stage, but Aster’s recent wins show
plenty of upset potential.Second LAN of the season
China Dota 2 Pro Cup is backed by some of the most powerful esports organizations in China. It’s organized by ImbaTV, the previous host of three DPC Majors and seven Minors. Their Develop League and Pro League both ran for two seasons earlier this year, making them a premier sponsor for all play levels. Season 2 of Pro Cup will feature on offline finals, making it the second LAN since the beginning of the pandemic. The first was Dota Pro Cup Season 1.
The return to regular in-person play seems to always be a few months away. Dota 2, like many other esports, was expected to weather the storm thanks to online play. Valve has recently announced funding partnerships for a handful of upcoming tournaments. Still, the lack of capital events and international rivalry has led to a less-than-exciting year for Dota. Albeit at a small scale, Pro Cup proves that LAN is possible under very stringent conditions.
China Dota 2 Pro Cup’s LAN finals will run from November 26-29.
