Team Secret smash out EIGHTH tournament victory in a row

By Matt DixonSeptember 26, 2020
This may not come as a surprise to you, but Team Secret just clean-swept a grand final. Their victory at OGA Dota PIT Season 3 was their eighth tournament victory in a row, marking another stretch of their domination of this year’s season.
Team Secret’s domination streak has been going on for several months now. None of the top contenders from the Europe and CIS regions have been able to stop them; they’ve certainly had plenty of chances, six different teams have faced Secret in the last eight grand finals, with OG and VP.Prodigy being the two lucky teams to get a second chance at toppling the titans that are Team Secret.
The Dota PIT S3 Grand finals were possibly the most dominant yet for Secret, with the full series totaling just 92 minutes of game time. In game 3, it took just four minutes before Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat were hunting deep in VP.P’s jungle.
While nobody can fault a team for losing hard to Team Secret, the game three stomp must really have gotten to VP.P’s heads, judging by their last-minute item choices. Whether it’s stacking three Cloaks or simply selling everything for a Moonshard, VP.P seemed well and truly done with this best of five by the time Secret had had their fun with them.
Despite a brutal grand final, VP.Prodigy have a lot to be proud of after this week. They rose up from a fresh roster shuffle to claim an impressive second place, following a lower bracket run which started after their very first series of the tournament, which was also against Team Secret. After eliminating Nigma, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, and Allianceon their way to the grand final, VP.Prodigy looked like they might be the team to at least bring Secret to a game 4.
There is surely a lot in store for the future of VP.Prodigy. While the team is not currently scheduled to play at the upcoming ESL One Germany 2020 tournament, their parent team, Virtus.pro recently decided to drop out of the event following poor results. After a strong performance at Dota PIT, VP.P have certainly earned their invite in our eyes.
