TrackDota's Guide to OGA Dota PIT Season 2: Europe and CIS

By TrackDota TeamJuly 25, 2020
OGA Dota PIT Season 2 started in China, visited North and Latin Americas, and now it's headed to Europe & CIS. From July 27-30, Dota PIT will see eight teams face off in a double-elimination bracket.
Why should you watch it? It's EU & CIS, so that really shouldn't be a question. But just to make it clear, Team Secret is still taking a break, so someone else WILL win this tournament!

What's at stake?

The Europe and CIS region will have a whopping $170,000 USD up for grabs. The winning team will take home $70,873, and the last place teams will take home $5,661 each, which is nearly $250 more than the second-place team received in the Americas. This prize pool is big bucks!
Also, as we already noted, Team Secret will not be competing, which opens the event wide for another team to swoop in and win. One of these teams will get bragging rights!

Teams

Dota PIT will feature eight teams directly seeded into a double-elimination bracket.
Of these teams, we're most excited to see OG and Nigma compete. Nigma is probably the slight favorite to take the top position. OG has just announced the return of Sébastien "Ceb" Debs to the offlane position. How prepared is OG to tackle the competition?
VP.Prodigy hasn't competed since the start of June. They were outshining the primary Virtus.pro team at that point, and then took a long break. Will they come back rusty or hungry?
Ninjas in Pyjamas has undergone a roster shake-up, saying goodbye to captain "Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev." They recently welcomed Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen as a stand-in to fill that gap. Dota PIT will be our first opportunity to see the new roster in action.
Natus Vincere are also on the roster change bandwagon, with Nikita "young G" Bochko and Alexander "Immersion" Hmelevskoy" coming in as the team's new mid and position four players, respectively. Immersion will also be captain-ing the squad.
Far more stable is Alliance. Now, they're still playing with Artiom "fng' Barshack, who is allegedly on Gambit Esports but has not played with them since the end of April. This team hasn't wowed us in a while, but they certainly have that potential.
Vikin.gg are right on that cusp of launching up into the top tier of teams. They've won a string of lower-tier tournaments, and then had the bad luck of facing Team Secret early in their last top-tier event. They, like all the other teams in the region, have had a month to both relax and practice. Are they coming back to competition hungry enough for the win?
FlyToMoon recently placed second at the Parimatch League Season Three. Now, it's important to remember the event only had four teams, and none of the three other teams are competing in Dota PIT. Regardless, they're the team who have been most recently active, and perhaps that means they'll be the most in form? Is that a stretch? Yes. But the CIS squad could certainly show up here and take some big wins.
Any of these teams is very capable of an upset, so you're definitely going to want to tune in and catch the matches live.
And with all of that said, there's no schedule available yet, so we don't know how the teams have been seeded and what path they'll have to take to the grand finals.
This is anyone's event to win.
